Despertar Host Mabel Katz to Receive Prestigious Anna Maria Arias Award in Philadelphia, September 21.

This is the fourth time Ms Katz has been recognized for her contribution to LA’s Latino community.

September 20, 2006. Los Angeles, CA. Wells Fargo & Company, in partnership with LATINA Style Magazine and the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), has recognized Los Angeles’ Mabel Katz, along with nine other Latina entrepreneurs from across the country with the fifth annual Anna Maria Arias Memorial Business Fund Awards.

Ms Katz was acknowledged for her efforts in empowering LA Latinos to prosper financially and personally. She has been effective in this work largely through her early morning television show Despertar (Awakening), as well as through her other private and public endeavors.

“This award is especially meaningful to me because I have always felt I was swimming against the current. It often seemed that I was practically alone in wanting to educate the Latino community on the practical things—wealth building, finances, even how to start their own businesses—that will truly give them an opportunity to improve themselves,” said Ms Katz. “Even so, there are many incredible Latino Women out there making a difference in their own ways, and I am honored to be able to interview them on my program and teach other women by their example”

Each winner will receive a $5,000 cash grant and an award commemorating the life and achievements of Anna Maria Arias, the late founder of LATINA Style Magazine and one of the foremost advocates for Latina empowerment and economic development.

Ms Katz’s talk show, Despertar, which began as a radio program and expanded to television in 2004, features guests ranging from LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to business leaders and celebrities—guests who can assist LA’s Latinos in bettering themselves and their families.

Ms. Katz was also honored last February as Business Woman of the Year For 2005 by the LA Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. This year, in addition to the Arias Award, she received the Sol Azteca Award and the prestigious Latin Business Association’s Members Choice Award.

Whether it is assisting accounting clients in achieving greater prosperity, consulting with individuals on enhancing their success, hosting her television program, or leading seminars and workshops on achieving abundance and fulfillment in a natural, easy way, Ms Katz has devoted her life to helping others. She is also the author of ‘The Easiest Way; Solve your problems and take the road to love, happiness, wealth and the life of your dreams,’ a book that details the principles and practices she presents in her workshops.
